QR code for bank transfers (EPC)

Many European banking apps read the EPC standard: no IBANs copied by hand, no typos.

Type

SEPA transfer

Static: the content is stored in the code itself. It works offline, but scans can't be counted and it can't be changed after printing.

Used as the file name.

Name of the account holder, as the bank knows it.

Only needed for transfers from outside the EEA.

If empty, the payer types it.

E.g. the invoice number; up to 140 characters.

How to make it

  1. 01Type the payee and IBAN.
  2. 02Add an amount and reference if you like.
  3. 03Put it on invoices, quotes and receipts.

Tips

IBAN checked
The generator checks the IBAN is valid before making the code.
Amount optional
Without an amount the customer types it: handy for donations.
Not every bank
Many banking apps read it, some don't: print the IBAN too.

Free, or with a plan

Static codes are free forever. With a plan they become dynamic: change them after printing and see every scan.

Questions

Is it safe?

The code only holds the transfer details: the customer always confirms the payment in their app.
