Connect QR Studio to Zapier, Make and thousands of apps

Every scan and every form answer can start an automation: a row in Google Sheets, a contact in your CRM, a message to your team. No code needed.

What you can automate

  • Every scan in a spreadsheet

    A new row in Google Sheets or Excel for each scan, with the code, time, country, city and device.

  • Form answers into your CRM

    Registrations and feedback sent from your hosted pages become contacts in HubSpot, Mailchimp or Brevo.

  • Alerts for your team

    A message in Slack, Teams or Telegram when a code is scanned or someone signs up for your event.

  • Codes created automatically

    A new row in a spreadsheet or a new product in your shop creates its QR code, ready to print.

You need a QR Studio plan (API and webhooks are included in every plan) and an account on Zapier or Make. In Zapier the “Webhooks by Zapier” app requires a paid Zapier plan; in Make, webhooks also work on the free plan.

Zapier, step by step

  1. In Zapier, create a Zap. For the trigger choose “Webhooks by Zapier”, event “Catch Hook”, and copy the webhook URL Zapier shows you.

  2. In QR Studio open API & webhooks, paste the URL under Webhooks and press “Add webhook”.

  3. Scan one of your codes with your phone (or send an answer from one of your hosted pages), then press “Test trigger” in Zapier: the event arrives with all its fields.

  4. Add a “Filter by Zapier” step so the Zap only goes on for the events you want: for example, Type is scan.created and Data Qr Name is the name of your code.

  5. Add the action, for example Google Sheets “Create Spreadsheet Row”, and map the fields: Data Qr Name, Data Scan Scanned At, Data Scan Country…

  6. Publish the Zap. From then on every scan reaches Zapier within a few seconds.

Make, step by step

  1. In Make, create a scenario and add the “Webhooks” module, “Custom webhook”. Press “Add”, give it a name and copy the address.

  2. In QR Studio open API & webhooks, paste the address under Webhooks and press “Add webhook”.

  3. Back in Make the module waits for data: scan one of your codes so Make learns the structure of the event.

  4. Add the next modules (Google Sheets, HubSpot, Slack…) and, if you receive several kinds of event, a filter on type. Then switch the scenario on with scheduling “Immediately as data arrives”.

Create codes from Zapier or Make

With the REST API an automation can also create codes. In API & webhooks create an API key, then add an HTTP request step (“Webhooks by Zapier” → “POST” in Zapier, “HTTP” → “Make a request” in Make) with these settings:

Method
POST
URL
https://qrcode.cdipalma.com/api/v1/qr
Headers
Authorization: Bearer qrs_…
Content-Type: application/json
Body (JSON)
{
  "name": "Table 12",
  "destinationUrl": "https://example.com/menu?table=12"
}

The answer contains the id of the new code and its short link (shortLink); the image, in SVG, is at /api/v1/qr/ID/image (ID being that id). All the fields and the other endpoints are described in API & webhooks.

What each event contains

Each request is a JSON object; Zapier and Make show its fields ready to map.

type
The event: scan.created for every scan, submission.created for every answer to a hosted page (feedback, registration), ping for the test event.
data.qr.id · name · slug · type
The code: its id, the name you gave it, its short link's slug and its type.
data.scan.scannedAt · isUnique
When it was scanned (ISO 8601, in UTC) and whether it's the first scan from that visitor.
data.scan.country · region · city
Approximate place, when known: country (two-letter code), region and city.
data.scan.deviceType · os · browser · language · variant
Device type, operating system, browser, language and, for an A/B test, the variant shown.
data.submission.id · createdAt · rating · …
The answer: its id, when it was sent, the stars (for feedback) and the fields of the form, such as name and email.

Every request carries an X-QR-Studio-Signature header (HMAC-SHA256), so your own servers can check it really comes from QR Studio. Treat the Zapier or Make address like a password: whoever has it can send data to your automation.
